Consecutive or simultaneous?

The services of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation require different approaches to the preparation and conducting of events and differ in price.
Features of consecutive interpretation:
The time length of the event is doubled, since every sentence is translated in segments, during pauses in the speech of the speaker.
While the speaker is saying the next sentence, the translator has an opportunity to select the best interpretation of it. In addition, he may ask clarifying questions or ask the speaker to repeat the sentence.
The interpreter is always in view, next to the speaker. Therefore it is important that his attire and outward appearance corresponds with the level of the event and features of the speakers appearance.
2 types of consecutive interpretation:
Unilateral. One interpreter interprets from the foreign language to yours, and a second interpreter from your language to the foreign language (usually this is a native speaker).
Bilateral. One interpreter interperates in both directions.
Consecutive interpretation services are 2 times cheaper than simultaneous: compare prices.
Features of simultaneous interpretation:
Allows the event to go on without consuming additional time, since the interpretation is done at the same time as the speech of the speaker with a delay of only about 1-3 seconds.
Only high class interpreters can do high quality simultaneous interpretation. There is no opportunity during the process to ask the speaker questions or think over difficult sentences. They have to be able to instantly find the best interpretation. Therefore preparation is very important- preliminary studying of reports, slide presentations, and thematic glossaries.
Since this work demands the highest level of concentration, simultaneous interpreters work in pairs, replacing each other every 30 minutes.
Special equipment is neccessary- a soundproof cabin for each pair of interpreters, microphones and earphones for speakers, the audience, and interpreters.
A variant of simultaneous interpretation is whispering, when the interpreter whispers the interpretation to one or several participants of the event. When whispering, the interpreter needs to condense the text of the speaker, since part of his words are muffled by the interpreters voice.
Usually whispering is used on unofficial occasians, for example, on tourism trips or during telephone interpretation.
We rent out equipment for simultaneous interpretation. You can order just the equipment or full event support- equipment and simultaneous interpretation. Discounts are given on full event support.
